2 children die after drowning in Janakpur pond



JANAKPURDHAM: Two children died after drowning in a pond in Janakpurdham of Dhanusa district.

The victims have been identified as 6-year-old Shivanandan Mahato, son of Jaynarayan Mahato, and 6-year-old Aditya Paswan, son of Rakesh Paswan.

Both were residents of Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan city, Ward No. 20, Devpura Rupaitha.

According to Dhanusha Police Spokesperson DSP Ranjan Awa, the incident occurred on Saturday while the children were bathing in the Sahuji pond near their home.

Locals rescued the children and rushed them to Janakpur Provincial Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

The bodies have been kept at the Provincial Hospital Janakpur for post-mortem.

The District Police Office Dhanusha has stated that further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
