KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the National Planning Commission (NPC) to devise new schemes aimed at boosting production and creating employment opportunities across the country.

During a meeting with the newly appointed members of the NPC, who visited the Prime Minister at his office in Singha Durbar today, he stressed the need for addressing the country’s major challenges of low production and employment in a systematic manner.

“I have full confidence that the Commission will enhance its role as a government think tank,” stated Prime Minister Dahal.

Additionally, he urged the NPC officials to prioritize evidence-based policymaking by bolstering the statistical system.

Expressing his belief that the newly appointed officials would accelerate the implementation of plans, research studies, and development projects, the Prime Minister instructed the NPC to expedite the finalization of the 16th plan and assist in integrating the proposed strategies and programs into the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

The meeting was attended by NPC Vice Chair Dr. Meen Bahadur Shrestha along with the newly appointed members of the Commission.
