US Deputy Assistant Secretary Afreen Akhter arrives in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Afreen Akhter, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) for Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the Maldives as well as the Office of Security and Transnational Affairs, arrived in Kathmandu today.

During her visit, Akhter will meet with government officials, civil society representatives, and AmCham members to discuss how the bilateral relationship between the United States and Nepal supports the development of Nepal’s education and health sectors, democratic institutions, and economic opportunities, according to the US Embassy in Kathmandu.

It should be noted that she had visited Nepal in February last year.
