Gagan Thapa demands probe into controversies surrounding ministers and parliamentarians

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa has asked the authorities concerned to conduct investigations on ministers and parliamentarians embroiled in disputes.

During the zero hour of the House of Representatives, Thapa specifically called for those under scrutiny by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), accused of government land embezzlement, involved in citizenship disputes, and implicated in co-operative fraud, to be temporarily removed from their positions.

Thapa emphasized the need to shroud the flags of parliamentarians situated on either side, symbolic of their involvement in alleged wrongdoings.

He advocated for a decisive action against those facing investigations by the CIAA, urging a temporary removal from their duties.

“Let’s keep the parliamentarians or ministers involved in the controversy at home and investigate, and welcome them back innocently with flower garlands,” Thapa stated.

He emphasized that if guilt is proven, appropriate punishment should follow.
