Initially critical, Oli praises budget after its approval

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli stated that his party helped in passing the budget as it is good.

Responding to questions from journalists at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor on Tuesday, Oli mentioned that the budget was passed by a majority in the House of Representatives because it is well-constructed.

When asked about the Prime Minister’s complaints regarding the budget, Oli claimed he had not heard any such complaints.

The budget for the upcoming fiscal year was approved by the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Previously, former Prime Minister Oli had expressed dissatisfaction with the budget on June 1, citing a lack of consultation with the ruling parties.

He had questioned whether the budget belonged to the Finance Minister or the party that appointed the Finance Minister, indicating that there was a lack of discussion and the allocation seemed biased.

“Without consultation with the parties, it’s unclear whether this budget is of the Finance Minister or the party to which the Finance Minister belongs. The allocation appears to be somewhat tilted and biased,” he said then.
