KANCHANPUR: The Shuklaphanta municipality has been declared a fully immunized local level.

The municipality had met all criteria, thereby being qualified for it.

The health section chief at the municipality, Parama Nand Bhatt, informed that all children below 15 months were fully ensured vaccination, so the municipality was declared fully immunized local level.

Even a study was conducted on the status of immunization among the children between 16 to 23 months, he added.

Among the children entitled to full immunization, 2,978 have been fully immunized here.

Fifty children have missed the jab due to family migration and shift in labour.

Bhatta, however, said infectious diseases could spread among children because the daily wage earners at brick kilns did not get their children immunized.

“Dozens of vaccines are administered to the children so that they would be able to fend off communicable diseases,” he added.

The children are jabbed against tuberculosis, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, Hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenza B, polio, measles, pneumonia, meningitis, Japanese encephalitis, rotavirus etc.

District coordination committee chief Durga Datt Bohara viewed its children deserve to enjoy fundamental rights that constitution has ensured.

Right to health is fundamental rights, so they deserve immunization, argued. Similarly, municipality mayor Rana Bahadur Mahara said immunization programme remained effective to prevent spread of diseases among children.

The children missing in the vaccination drive would be searched and jab ensured.

Deputy mayor Kalpana Pant underlined the need for ensuring partnership to reinforce the essential service including immunization.
