Rabi Lamichhane suspended from State Affairs and Good Governance Committee

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has been suspended from his role as a member of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee following his earlier suspension as a federal parliamentarian.

The decision was announced on Tuesday during a meeting at Singha Durbar, where committee chairperson Ramhari Khatiwada stated that Lamichhane’s suspension was a result of ongoing legal proceedings against him.

After being suspended from his parliamentary seat, Lamichhane is reportedly preparing to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court to contest his suspension. The suspension follows charges of cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering, with the case registered in the Kaski District Court.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat issued a suspension notice on Monday after receiving a letter from the Kaski District Police Office on Sunday.
