KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, who had been on a five-day official visit to Nepal, returned to India on Sunday.
General Dwivedi, accompanied by his wife Sunita Dwivedi, was on the visit at the formal invitation of Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, General Ashok Raj Sigdel.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Lieutenant Colonel Prem Dhoj Adhikari, Chief of the Department of War Affairs.
During the visit, General Dwivedi was honored with the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army by Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Poudel.
Throughout the visit, General Dwivedi held separate meetings with Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Oli, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, and General Sigdel.
He also visited the Army Command and Staff College in Shivpuri and the West Frontier Headquarters in Pokhara.
Additionally, General Dwivedi visited the Muktinath Temple and took a mountain flight to observe the Himalayan peaks.
