NAWALPARASI: Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Bidhya Bhattarai, has called for a focused debate and discourse on Nepal’s education system, emphasizing its crucial role in shaping the country’s political landscape and societal awareness.

Speaking at the launch of the ‘Hamro Khusi Pathyakram’ (Our Happy Curriculum) initiative by Madhyabindu Municipality in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) today, Minister Bhattarai stressed the need to shift from political discussions to critical debates on education.

“Our discussions, struggles, and movements have long centered around political issues. It’s high time we focus on improving the education system,” the Minister stated.

She highlighted the significant influence of education and awareness in developing leadership and culture, urging everyone to prioritize the development of the education sector.

“Although politics influences leadership, it is education and culture that shape our society. They define our culture and political landscape. Therefore, a serious debate on education is essential,” she added.

Minister Bhattarai commended the initiative by Madhyabindu Municipality, expressing hope that the new curriculum would address growing frustrations and dissatisfaction by promoting happiness and well-being among students.

Mayor of Madhyabindu Municipality, Bhimlal Adhikari, shared that the curriculum, designed by the Municipality, will be introduced in 66 public and private schools within the municipality.

The new curriculum will be implemented from grades 1 to 8, with the aim of promoting student welfare, fostering well-rounded development, enhancing mental well-being, and supporting sustainable development within the community.
