Rabi Lamichhane claims to have presented evidence proving his innocence in fraud case

KATHMANDU: Former Home Minister and Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has stated that he has submitted evidence to the parliamentary probe committee to prove his innocence in the ongoing cooperative fraud investigation.

Speaking to the media at Bharatpur Airport today, Lamichhane asserted that he has provided substantial evidence to refute the allegations against him.

“The committee was formed to investigate the case based on evidence, and I took the opportunity to clear the allegations put forth against me,” he said.

Lamichhane, who previously served as the managing director of Galaxy Television, was summoned by the parliamentary investigation committee at Singha Durbar on Friday, where he was questioned for nine hours, late into the night.

He is currently under investigation for alleged embezzlement of funds from the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara, the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal, and the Sahara Cooperative in Chitwan.

These funds are claimed to have been diverted through Gorkha Media.

Despite the allegations, Lamichhane continues to deny any involvement in the fraudulent activities.
