Home Minister Lekhak briefs Indian Minister Khadse on Tanahu bus accident

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak briefed Raksha Khadse, India’s Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, on the recent bus accident in Tanahu that claimed the lives of Indian tourists.

Minister Khadse arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday morning to meet the injured and assist with the repatriation of the deceased.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday when a bus carrying 43 Indian tourists plunged into the Marsyangdi River in Ainpahara, Anbu Khaireni Rural Municipality-2, Tanahu, along the Prithviraj Highway.

Upon her arrival, Minister Khadse, along with Home Minister Lekhak, visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj to check on those receiving medical treatment.

During an event later at Singha Durbar, Home Minister Lekhak assured that the Nepali government is committed to providing the best possible care to the injured.

Minister Khadse expressed her gratitude for the swift rescue and search operations, as well as the medical treatment provided to the injured.

According to the Home Ministry, three of the injured are being treated in ICUs, while others are in general wards.

Meanwhile, autopsies of the victims are being conducted in Chitwan. Once the post-mortem procedures are complete, the bodies will be handed over for repatriation to India.

Minister Khadse is scheduled to visit Chitwan later today.
