Stoinis heroics lead LSG to historic IPL victory over CSK



KATHMANDU: Marcus Stoinis’ sensational counter-attacking century (124* off 63 balls) propelled Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a remarkable victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a thrilling IPL encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Stoinis single-handedly rescued LSG from a precarious position of 33/2 and played a sublime innings, maintaining a brisk scoring rate throughout.

Nicholas Pooran (34 off 15) and Deepak Hooda (17* off 6) provided crucial support to Stoinis as LSG chased down a daunting target of 211 runs, marking the highest successful run-chase in IPL history at Chepauk.

Stoinis’ heroics were highlighted in the final over, where he smashed consecutive boundaries and a six off Mustafizur Rahman to seal the victory for LSG.

Despite Gaikwad’s brilliant innings, Stoinis’ masterclass overshadowed CSK’s efforts as LSG secured a memorable win.

Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul’s decision to field first paid off initially, with LSG making early breakthroughs including a spectacular one-handed catch by Rahul to dismiss Ajinkya Rahane.

However, Gaikwad’s sublime form and contributions from Dube ensured that CSK posted a daunting total.
