Mets forecast of storm activity in Terai region

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division (WFD) has issued a weather advisory indicating the partial influence of westerly and local winds prevailing in Nepal.

According to the Division, the skies over the hilly regions of the country are currently partly cloudy, while the rest of the areas are predominantly clear.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain clear in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, whereas other areas might experience partial cloudiness.

Moreover, there’s a likelihood of scattered light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in select hilly areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few spots in the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

In addition, isolated instances of light snowfall are anticipated at one or two locations in Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and the high-altitude hilly and Himalayan zones of Sudurpaschim Province.

Furthermore, there’s a potential for storm activity in various locations of the Terai regions within Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, including Lumbini Province.

Tonight, the weather is forecasted to remain predominantly clear in the hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, with partial cloud cover expected elsewhere.

The Weather Forecasting Division has also suggested the possibility of light snowfall at isolated spots in the high-altitude hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Additionally, there’s a chance of storms in a few areas of the Terai in the Lumbini Province.
