KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken Sunil Paudel, the former managing director of Nepal Telecom, and Bikal Paudel, the former executive director of the Security Printing Center, into custody on charges of corruption.
A CIAA team apprehended both Sunil and Bikal at their respective residences in Shantinagar and Mandikhatar.
The anti-corruption body alleges that the duo engaged in unauthorized international consultancy while still in government positions and poses a flight risk, having acquired permanent resident permission for the USA.
During a raid, the CIAA seized crucial documents from the accused residences, according to an undisclosed source.
The suspects, despite facing corruption charges, remain under scrutiny for potential misappropriation of public assets, misuse of program resources, and involvement in transferring assets abroad.
