Rabi Lamichhane suspended as federal MP
Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane has been suspended from his position as a federal Member of Parliament.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat issued a suspension notice on Monday, based on a letter sent by the Kaski District Police Office via email on Sunday.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has officially appointed Vice President Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal as the acting president of the party.
The decision was made during a virtual secretariat meeting held on Monday.
According to a party leader, some members attended the meeting in person at the party office, while others joined virtually.
Five defendants, including Rastriya Swatantra Party chair and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, were present in court today.
According to court information officer Suraj Adhikari, statements were recorded only from Chhabilal Joshi under the supervision of District Judge Nitij Rai.
Cold spell hits Kathmandu as minimum temperature declines
The minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley has been steadily declining over the past few days.
Meteorologist Raju Pradhananga from the Weather Forecasting Division stated that the temperature in Kathmandu Valley was recorded at 5:45 am today (Monday).
On Sunday, the minimum temperature was 4.5 degrees Celsius, but the official reading at 8:45 am today suggests a further drop is possible.
Dr. Bhusal arrested for sharing photo of Lamichhane in detention
Dr. Nicholas Bhusal, who shared a photo of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane sleeping in detention, has been arrested.
A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended him in Thali on Sunday.
Bhusal had claimed that he took the photo from the CCTV monitoring room while returning from a meeting with Lamichhane in detention.
RSP leaders gather in Pokhara following charge sheet against Rabi Lamichhane
Key leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have assembled in Pokhara to discuss the party’s future course of action after a charge sheet was filed against party chair Rabi Lamichhane.
The 427-page charge sheet, submitted by the District Attorney’s Office to the district court, accuses Lamichhane of fraud and money laundering related to a cooperative.
Vice Chair DP Aryal, along with leaders Shishir Khanal and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, traveled to Pokhara at Lamichhane’s invitation. Swarnim Wagle met Lamichhane on Saturday while several other leaders arrived in Pokhara on Sunday morning for discussions.
Father and son found dead in Bhaktapur residence
A father and son were found dead in their room at Balkot, Bhaktapur.
The deceased have been identified as 56-year-old Kulprasad Acharya and his 22-year-old son, Praveen Acharya, originally from Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality in Khotang.
According to the police, both bodies had injuries on various parts, raising suspicions about the cause of death.
Maoists demand Rishikesh’s resignation; Yogesh emphasizes accountability
CPN-Maoist Centre MP Aman Lal Modi has demanded the resignation of Rishikesh Pokhrel, chair of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
During a PAC meeting held on Monday at Singha Durbar, MP Modi criticized Pokhrel, claiming the committee appears as an extension of the government.
Modi argued that Pokhrel should step aside as allegations of financial misconduct have surfaced against him and his family.
