Nepali, Indian, and Chinese nationals arrested for gambling in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested seven individuals on charges of gambling, specifically in connection with the ‘Fish Shoot Game’ in Kathmandu.

Among those detained are nationals from Nepal, India, and China.

Police recovered a substantial amount of cash, including 1,201,000 rupees, 3,100 Chinese yuan, and 2,000 US dollars, along with seven mobile phones from the suspects.

The arrested individuals include Sonam Tamang originally from Amdo, Tibet, China, who is currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, Bauddha Phulbari; Zampa Khedup from Bengaluru, India, also living in Kathmandu; Norbu, from Lhasa, Tibet currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, Tinchuli.

Additionally, Dasang from Sigache, Tibet currently residing in Tusal has also been arrested.

Others include Wei Chuilin hails from Sichuan, China, currently living in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-27; Tenzing Norbu Sherpa from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, Simaltar, and Lopsang Lama of Tinchuli, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6.

The arrests were made following a tip-off about gambling activities at a house on Bauddha Tinchuli Phulbari Marg, operated by Sonam Tamang, which was marked with a sign reading “Game Zone.”

The suspects are currently being held at the District Police Complex Bhadrakali for further investigation and necessary action.
