Bahadur Singh Lama stakes claim as Bagmati Province CM

KATHMANDU: Bahadur Singh Lama, the parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), has staked his claim to the position of Chief Minister (CM) of Bagmati Province.

Lama’s claim is backed by the support of 64 lawmakers from the NC and CPN-UML.

Following the resignation of Chief Minister Shalikram Jamakattel, Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma had called on parties to stake their claims for the post by 2 PM on Tuesday.

With Singh poised to become the next CM, the NC is set to receive six ministerial positions, including the CM post, while the remaining ministerial positions will be allotted to the UML.
