NC Leader Koirala suggests Home Minister Lamichhane to resign amid fraud allegations

KATHMANDU: Shekhar Koirala, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress, has called for Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to step down from his position on moral grounds.

Addressing party members in Mid-Baneshwor today, Koirala emphasized the importance of Minister Lamichhane’s resignation amidst ongoing allegations.

“I recommend that Home Minister Lamichhane resign from his post to facilitate the ongoing investigation. If the investigation later proves his innocence, he can resume his duties,” stated Koirala.

Minister Lamichhane faces accusations related to involvement in cooperative frauds, prompting demands from the opposition for his resignation.

The Nepali Congress, as the main opposition party, has been vocal in its insistence on Lamichhane’s resignation pending the outcome of the investigation.
