Weather: WFD predicts snowfall in three provinces today

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of a westerly low-pressure system, the Weather Forecasting Division (WFD) has said.

The weather today is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy across the country.

In the afternoon, the weather is expected to be predominantly clear in the hilly areas of the country, specifically in Koshi Province, while the rest of the country can expect partly to mostly cloudy conditions.

There is a likelihood of scattered to light rain in a few areas of the hilly regions in Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

Additionally, there is a chance of snowfall in some high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

During the night, the weather is expected to remain mostly clear in the hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, while other regions will experience partly cloudy conditions.

There is a possibility of light snowfall in a couple of places in the high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali.

Furthermore, there is a chance of scattered to light rain in some mountainous areas of the country, as well as a few places in the Terai areas of Madhes and Lumbini provinces.

Considering the potential for light snowfall in the highlands and Himalayan regions, various aspects of daily life, including agriculture, health, tourism, mountain climbing, and transportation by road and air, may be affected due to rain, snow, and cold brought about by this weather system.
