EC completes all preparations for National Assembly election

KATHMANDU: All preparations, along with necessary security arrangements, for the National Assembly (NA) election have been completed.

The NA election is scheduled to take place on January 25. Voting is set to occur from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with Province Assembly members, chairpersons, and vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities, as well as mayors and deputy-mayors of urban municipalities serving as the eligible voters.

The Election Commission has designated a silence period from Monday midnight until the conclusion of voting to uphold impartiality, transparency, and a fear-free environment during the election, as mandated by legal provisions.

EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel stated that, during the silence period, political party office-bearers, candidates, sister organizations of the party, and other individuals, institutions, and bodies bound by the election code of conduct are prohibited from engaging in any discussions, interactions, meetings, or workshops related to election publicity.

Arrangements have been made for a white ballot paper with election symbols in green ink for Province Assembly members, while a white ballot paper with election symbols in red ink is designated for the chairpersons, vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities, and mayors and deputy-mayors of municipalities in the election.
