Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup: Sahara Club Pokhara faces Three Star Club in inaugural clash



KATHMANDU: Football enthusiasts are in for a treat as the 23rd edition of the Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup football tournament kicks off today, promising an exhilarating display of skill and competition.

The tournament opens with a much-anticipated inaugural match between Sahara Club Pokhara, the organizing team, and the formidable Three Star Club.

A total of 12 teams are set to compete in this edition, featuring a mix of both a foreign team and eight A Division clubs.

The previous edition’s champion, Sankata Club Kathmandu, will be defending its title, with Bhutanese Youth Sports Club, America, having secured the runner-up position.

Established in 2055 BS, the Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup has become synonymous with the city of Pokhara, drawing football enthusiasts from far and wide.

The coveted title comes with a cash prize of Rs 1,201,000 for the winner, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 601,000.

Teams participating in pre-quarterfinal matches will receive Rs 20,000, and those making it to the quarterfinals and semifinals will be awarded Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.
