Gandaki CM Pandey demands adequate rights to province

PARBAT: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, has said federal government must provide complete right to province governments.

As long as the federal government retains rights and deprives the sub-national governments, province government can not deliver development, CM Pandey warned, adding that there were bottlenecks rife, hindering the progress.

It has weakened federalism, according to him. CM Pandey was making such observation during his address at the second district convention of Nepali Congress in Parbat.

He however said there was no alternative to making province itself prosperous rather than expecting much from federal government.

According to him, province government had planned to build self-reliant economy by propelling export and transforming subsistence economy.

On a different note, CM Pande, who is also the Nepali Congress leader, viewed NC was being cornered, which he argued, would enfeeble republic.

He suggested the party that it adopted collective consciousness to carryout out works as per party statute.
