Former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi arrested in cooperative fraud case, taken to Pokhara

KATHMANDU: Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chhabi Lal Joshi, arrested in connection with the misappropriation of Surya Darshan Cooperative’s savings, is being taken to Pokhara.

Joshi was arrested in Shankhamul, Kathmandu, and is being flown to Pokhara on a Buddha Air flight scheduled for 8 pm, on Sunday.

In connection with the case, police have also dispatched a team to arrest Rabi Lamichhane, former Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network and Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Lamichhane, along with GB Rai and Joshi, is a partner in Gorkha Media Network.

Authorities have confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued against Lamichhane, and the police team has already arrived at RSP’s central office to apprehend him.

The arrests follow instructions from Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to expedite the implementation of a report by the Cooperative Inquiry Committee, intensifying police efforts in the case.
