DHANUSHA: The Madhesh Province Assembly has successfully enacted the Girl Child Protection Bill, 2081.
In today’s assembly meeting, Minister for Sports and Social Welfare Pramod Kumar Jaiswal presented the proposal for the bill’s enactment, accompanied by the report from the Committee on Women, Children, and Social Justice.
Minister Jaiswal highlighted that Madhesh Province is the first to introduce a law specifically aimed at protecting girl children.
Minister Jaiswal noted that this significant legislative step has been taken in the land of Goddess Janaki.
He also announced that an additional budget of Rs. 120 million has been allocated to restart the daughter insurance program in the province.
“It is necessary to empower girls through positive discrimination,” said Minister Yadav, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures for the empowerment of girls.
During the session, 17 members of the provincial assembly shared their views on the bill.
In response to the lawmakers’ queries, Minister Jaiswal emphasized the need for police adjustments to effectively implement the Girl Child Protection Act.
This historic legislation represents a major step forward in the protection and empowerment of girls in the Madhesh Province, setting a precedent for other regions to follow.
