KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has assured that the current coalition government will continue until the end of the House of Representatives (HoR) term.

Speaking at the inauguration of the seventh national general convention of the Tamang National Liberation Front in Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Prachanda urged everyone not to doubt the coalition’s stability.

He attributed the government’s endurance to his party’s historical contributions, current needs, and its significant number of seats in the HoR.

“There is no need for concern over the party’s fewer seats,” he said, emphasizing that the government is stable due to what he referred to as a “magical number” in parliament that allows the coalition to manage through various strategies.

PM Prachanda also highlighted the government’s dedication to fighting corruption and promoting social justice and prosperity.

He mentioned the party’s preparations for a general convention aimed at developing new ideologies and initiatives to guide the country towards good governance and prosperity.

Recalling the role of his party in advocating for special provisions and the right to self-determination to achieve new national unity, the Maoist Centre Chairman promised to reinvigorate the party’s efforts across government, parliament, and grassroots movements.

He acknowledged the contributions and sacrifices of the Newar community in the Kathmandu Valley and the Tamang community in the surrounding areas, stating that the party’s ethnic fronts, which had become inactive after the constitution’s promulgation, are being reactivated.

During the event, CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice Chairman Agni Prasad Sapkota and Finance Minister Barshaman Pun also spoke.

Sapkota noted the significant contributions of the Tamang community to Nepal’s political, economic, and social sectors, and emphasized the ongoing search for broader unification of left parties. P

un highlighted the importance of reflecting ethnic, linguistic, and cultural diversities in all state apparatus.

Lawmaker Mina Tamang stressed that ethnic and class-based liberation is achievable if the issues raised during the People’s War are implemented.

Surya Man Dong, Chairman of the general convention organizing committee and HoR Member, emphasized the need for the state to honor the contributions made by the Tamang community for political changes in the country.

The Tamang National Liberation Front, the ethnic front of the Maoist Centre, is hosting its two-day seventh national general convention with the slogan “Tamsaling Province and Socialist Revolution.”

At the event, PM Prachanda, Vice-Chairman Sapkota, Minister Pun, and former Speaker Onsari Ghartimagar were among those honored.
