NC to enhance its opposition role: President Deuba

LUMBINI: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has pledged to make the party’s opposition role in parliament more effective.

Acknowledging that the NC’s parliamentary presence has been less impactful, Deuba committed to strengthening the party’s opposition efforts in the future.

President Deuba made these remarks while unveiling a bust of the late NC leader Prithviraj Kandel and inaugurating a bus park named in his honor in Maheshpur, Palhinandan Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi-West.

The bus park commemorates Kandel, the father of Devendaraj Kandel, a former Minister of State for Home Affairs and a central member of the Nepali Congress.

The late Kandel was elected Member of Parliament from Palhimaj East Constituency No. 57 in the 2015 BS general election.

At the same event, Hridayash Tripathi, President of the Janata Pragatisheel Party, emphasized the need to pass the Civil Service Act promptly.

He also argued that the consent of the Madhesi people is crucial when planning and executing any activities along the Nepal-India border.

Binod Chaudhary, Member of Parliament from Nawalparasi-1, stressed the importance of unity among all parties for the development of the district.

Prior to the event, President Deuba interacted with party leaders and cadres, asserting that no one can defeat the NC and its ideology if leaders and members work with high enthusiasm to strengthen the party.
