KATHMANDU: Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group (KMG), who was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a forged citizenship case, is set to be presented at the Dhanusha District Court today for the extension of his custody.

Following his arrest, Sirohiya has been held in the custody of the District Police Office in Dhanusha.

According to the District Police Office, Kailash Prasad Sirohiya obtained Nepalese citizenship certificate number 39698886 from the District Administration Office in Dhanusha. However, it appears that the same number had previously been issued to Shivji Sahu Teli.

Sirohiya was arrested by police at the Thapathali office of Kantipur Media Group.

The arrest followed the Dhanusha District Court’s decision to grant permission to district police to issue an arrest warrant against Chairman Sirohiya in connection with the dual citizenship issue.
