5.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Bajura

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Bajura early Saturday morning.

The earthquake hit Gotri in Jagannath Rural Municipality, located in the northeastern part of Bajura.

Dr. Lokbijay Adhikari, senior seismologist at the National Seismology and Research Center in Lainchaur, confirmed that the tremor occurred at 4:14 a.m. on Saturday.

NPL Final: Janakpur Bolts beat Sudurpaschim Royals by 5 wickets to be crowned champions 

Janakpur Bolts have been crowned the first champions of the Nepal Premier League, defeating Sudurpaschim Royals by 5 wickets at the TU Cricket Ground.

The Royals, after winning the toss and opting to bat, started explosively with openers Binod Bhandari and Saif Zaib.

The duo put up 28 runs in the first two overs and continued their assault, building a 117-run partnership in just 72 balls.

PM Oli congratulates NPL winner

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has congratulated Janakpur Bolts for winning the title of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

“In today’s match, Sudurpaschim Royals also played well. With this, the great festival of Nepal’s cricket is over from today,” the PM said.

In his congratulatory message, the PM has thanked all the participating teams, organizers and management teams.

NPL: Dipendra Airee named best Nepali player, wins EV car

Dipendra Singh Airee has been named the Best Nepali Player of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) and awarded an OMODA E5 Electric SUV car as his prize.

Sudurpaschim Royals’ Saif Ali Zaib was honored as the Siddhartha Bank Player of the Tournament, earning a cash prize of 500,000 rupees.

Lalit Rajbanshi was named the Best Bowler of the tournament and received a motorcycle as his reward.

Nepal exports electricity worth Rs 13 billion to India in 5 months

Nepal has exported electricity worth 13.04 billion rupees to India in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2081/82.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), 1.76 billion units of surplus electricity generated during the monsoon season were exported to India between Shrawan and Mangsir.

The average selling price was  7.39 rupees per unit.

Supplementary charge sheet filed against 19 in Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case

The Kaski District Attorney’s Office has filed a supplementary charge sheet against 19 individuals, including Gitendra Babu Rai (GB Rai), the chair of Surya Darshan Cooperative, in connection with a large-scale savings fraud case.

Kaski District Court’s Acting Administrative Officer Khem Narayan Lamichhane confirmed the development, stating that additional charges and damages have been claimed in the updated filing.

The original charges accused the defendants of defrauding Rs 1.11 billion. However, the supplementary charge sheet has increased the claimed amount by Rs 400 million, bringing the total alleged damages to Rs 1.51 billion.
