KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Royals have set a challenging target of 185 runs for the Janakpur Bolts in the final of the first Nepal Premier League season.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, the Royals got off to an explosive start with openers Binod Bhandari and Saif Zaib.
The duo put up 28 runs in the first two overs and continued their assault, building a 117-run partnership off just 72 balls. Zaib led the charge with a blistering 69 off 43 balls, while Bhandari contributed a quick 41 off 31 deliveries.
The momentum, however, shifted when both openers fell in quick succession.
The Bolts staged a comeback, with Lalit Rajbanshi delivering a stellar bowling performance, conceding just 15 runs and picking up a wicket in his four overs.
Kishor Mahato and Mohammad Moshin bolstered the effort, each taking three crucial wickets to restrict the Royals’ middle order.
Despite the Bolts’ disciplined bowling, the Royals managed a late surge to post a competitive total of 184 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
