KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, currently on a five-day official visit to Nepal, has been conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army (NA).
The honorary title was presented to him by President Ram Chandra Poudel during a ceremony at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, on Thursday.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Vice President Ram Sahay Yadav, and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
Upon arriving in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon, Dwivedi received a guard of honour at the Army Headquarters, the following morning.
He also visited the Army Pavilion at Tundikhel to pay tribute at the Bir Smarika.
In addition, Dwivedi engaged in bilateral talks with his Nepali counterpart, Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, at Nepali Army Headquarters.
