KATHMANDU: Official bilateral talks between the armies of Nepal and India are set to take place today, focusing on strengthening mutual defense and strategic relations.
Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, Ashok Raj Sigdel, and Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, who arrived on Wednesday for a five-day official visit, will meet at the Nepal Army Headquarters, according to NA spokesperson Assistant General Gaurav Kumar KC.
On Thursday, President Ramchandra Paudel will confer the honorary rank of ‘General of the Nepal Army’ to General Dwivedi.
This visit marks General Dwivedi’s first official trip to Nepal since he was appointed Army Chief on June 30.
He is also scheduled to hold separate courtesy calls with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Defense Minister Manbir Rai on Friday.
