SAFF Women’s Championship: Nepal facing Maldives today

KATHMANDU: The home team, Nepal, is playing their second match of the group stage of the SAFF Women’s Championship against the Maldives today (Monday).

The match will kick off at 5:30 PM at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu.

Nepal is entering the field in search of their first victory in the championship.

In their opening match, they were held to a goalless draw by Bhutan, putting them under pressure to secure a win against the Maldives to qualify for the semi-finals.

Star forward Sabitra Bhandari will be a key player for Nepal.

Bhandari, who is currently in France for a professional league, arrived in Nepal on Sunday night to join the team for the SAFF Championship.

On the other hand, the Maldives will also be looking to earn points by challenging the strong Nepali team.

The Maldives suffered a 1-0 defeat against Sri Lanka in their first match.

Earlier today, Sri Lanka and Bhutan will meet in Group B, with their match starting at 1:30 PM.

Sri Lanka aims for their second consecutive win, while Bhutan is seeking their first victory of the tournament.
