PM Oli and India PM Modi to hold talks in New York

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are set to meet in New York, United States, on Sunday, September 22, at 5:30 PM local time.

Nepal proposed this meeting time last week, although the Indian side had not initially confirmed Modi’s attendance.

A source from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the timing was determined in consultation with India.

Indian PM Modi traveled to USA, for the Quad leaders’ summit, which includes the USA, Australia, Japan, and India.

There were earlier concerns about his participation in the UN General Assembly, as India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was scheduled to lead India’s delegation.

However, Modi departed for America.

The meeting between the two Prime Ministers will take place shortly after Modi’s arrival in New York, according to sources.

Prior to this, uncertainty surrounded the meeting due to the lack of an official invitation for PM Oli from India since the formation of Nepal’s new government.
