Federal secular republic has failed: Kamal Thapa

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the Rastriya Pajatrantra Party Nepal (RPP Nepal), Kamal Thapa, has claimed that the federal secular republic has failed. Addressing the large gathering of RPP Nepal Valley workers held in Kathmandu on Friday, he said that parties and leaders who prefer to call themselves big should give up their stubbornness and change their course immediately.

Thapa also  accused that efforts are being made to quietly cover up the cooperative scandal because senior leaders from the Congress and UML are involved. He stated that while there was a lot of noise when Rabi Lamichhane’s name surfaced in the cooperative scandal, attempts were made to hide the issue as soon as the involvement of Congress and UML leaders became evident.

He questioned the investigation committee’s report, noting that while Rabi claimed to have received a ‘clean chit,’ reports on the other hand also indicated that the committee had recommended action against him. He further claimed that although the government and ruling parties celebrated Constitution Day with great fanfare, there was no enthusiasm among the people.

He said that the public’s attendance was not encouraging either in the program held by the government on the Army stage on the Constitution Day or in the Darbar Marg concert.

Thapa stated that simply patching up the current status quo will not solve the problems if the constitution is to be amended. He emphasized that only an inclusive system that accommodates everyone can save the country.
