PM Dahal urges intellectuals to advocate for change

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has criticized those spreading misinformation and negativity, claiming they harm the nation’s interests. Speaking at the sixth national conference of the Nepal Intellectuals’ Organization today, he emphasized the importance of fostering hope and positive thinking among the populace. PM Dahal stressed the pivotal role of intellectuals in guiding society toward progress, advocating for clear and open support of historical contributions to the country’s development.

Govt recommends ambassadors for eight countries, Lokdarshan Regmi for India

The government has recommended ambassadors for eight countries. The decision, based on political considerations of the leaders of the ruling coalition, was formally ‘made’ during the Cabinet meeting held on Friday. Former Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi has been recommended as the ambassador to India. Regmi previously served as the ambassador to the United Kingdom.

NC directs all its lawmakers to attend parliament session

The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has instructed all its lawmakers to attend the upcoming parliamentary sessions without fail. NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak stated that in today’s parliamentary party meeting, all members were directed to be present at the parliamentary sessions starting from June 23. The main agenda of the upcoming parliament session includes the passage of the Appropriation Bill. Chief Whip Lekhak emphasized the importance of lawmakers’ presence to voice the concerns of the country and the people effectively.

RSP Chair Lamichhane bats for political maturity, ideological clarity

Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane has asserted that his party was committed to the cause of the party establishment and was clear about the destination. Issuing a message of best wishes on social networking sites on the occasion of the second establishment year of the RSP, Chair Lamichhane mentioned that they were committed to fulfilling the objective of party establishment by gaining political maturity along with ideological clarity of the party.

Nepal’s International Trade: Imports reach Rs 1.453 trillion, exports at Rs 139 billion in 11 months

In the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, Nepal’s imports amounted to Rs 1.4537 trillion. According to the Department of Customs (DOC), imports decreased by 1.84 percent compared to the same period last fiscal year, totaling Rs 1.4537 trillion. Similarly, exports in the current fiscal year fell by 3.01 percent compared to last year. From August to June of this fiscal year, exports amounted to Rs 139.26 billion, while during the same period last year, exports were Rs 143.58 billion.

Justice Malla questions legitimacy of parliamentary committee in DPM Lamichhane-related case

The Supreme Court (SC) hearing on the writ petition seeking the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is underway. The division bench comprising Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Sharanga Subedi is hearing the case against Lamichhane. Hearing on the writ petition filed against Home Minister Lamichhane, Justice Malla raised question about the legitimacy of letter of the Office of the Attorney General and parliamentary inquiry committee formed to investigate the cooperative scandal. The bench has allocated one hour for arguments.

SC extends hearing of case against Home Minister Lamichhane

The Supreme Court (SC) has scheduled the continuation of the hearing against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, as the session on Friday did not conclude. The division bench of Judges Sapana Pradan Malla and Sharanga Subedi presided over the proceedings. The writ, filed by Advocate Anupama Bhattarai, seeks Lamichhane’s suspension. The petition details charges against Lamichhane and highlights loans he has taken.

Fire at Delta Complex guts property worth Rs 500 million

A heavy fire happened at a business area, known as Delta Complex, in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-8 has caused Rs 500 million plus in damage, according to preliminary estimates. However, the officials are working to confirm the total damages caused due to the fire. The fire that occurred on Thursday night was taken under control at 2:00 am on Friday, some eight hours after the fire began. The entire property was gutted in the fire that broke out in a four-story building constructed with a metal structure.
