NC directs all its lawmakers to attend parliament session

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has instructed all its lawmakers to attend the upcoming parliamentary sessions without fail.

NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak stated that in today’s parliamentary party meeting, all members were directed to be present at the parliamentary sessions starting from June 23.

The main agenda of the upcoming parliament session includes the passage of the Appropriation Bill.

Chief Whip Lekhak emphasized the importance of lawmakers’ presence to voice the concerns of the country and the people effectively.

“Attendance in parliamentary sessions has been notably low. With the Appropriation Bill on the agenda in the upcoming session, all Congress lawmakers are directed to be present, raise their voices for the country and the people, and fulfill their role as the main opposition,” Lekhak stated.

He mentioned that a decision regarding the budget will be made before the session, and all members are expected to adhere to it.

Lekhak criticized the arbitrary allocation of budgets by ministers in various ministries.

“There has been indiscriminate and immature budget allocation within ministries, and even ruling party lawmakers have raised concerns about it. Our stance is clear that this budget is immature and biased,” he said.

NC has proposed budget cuts and plans to stand firmly in support of that proposal.
