KATHMANDU: The task force formed to prepare the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Parliamentary Investigation Committee regarding the cooperative fraud case is currently in session.
Although the task force, established on Saturday, discussed the matter from Sunday morning until evening, the meeting ended without a conclusion due to disagreements on jurisdiction.
The ruling party and the opposition have not yet agreed on the mandate of the parliamentary investigation committee.
The Nepali Congress has insisted that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s name be mentioned in the committee’s formation, a point of contention with the ruling coalition parties.
A meeting of top leaders last Saturday agreed to form a parliamentary inquiry committee and established a four-member task force under the coordination of Law Minister Padam Giri to finalize its mandate.
The task force includes Jiwan Pariyar of the Nepali Congress, Mahesh Bartaula of the CPN-UML, and Shishir Khanal of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
Nepali Congress leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki is also present at today’s meeting.
The Nepali Congress has been obstructing parliamentary meetings, demanding an inquiry committee into the cooperative fraud case.
