16 persons held for demonstrating at prohibited area



KATHMANDU: The police have arrested 16 persons for demonstrating at a prohibited area, the southern gate of Singha Durbar, on Sunday.

They were protesting at Singha Durbar gate, putting forth various demands. Superintendent of Police at District Police Premises, Kathmandu, Nabaraj Adhikari, they were held for demonstration against the rule.

The protestors were among the student leaders including Abinash Kunwar, Milan Rai and Harikrishna Gajurel.

According to sources, the demonstrators demanded a civil society leaders-led committee to ensure thorough investigation over the corruption since 1990.

They are kept at Singha Durbar Police Circle
