Russia holds back release of Nepali nationals enlisted in its army: PM Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has disclosed that Russia currently shows reluctance in promptly releasing Nepali nationals who are enlisted in its army. Addressing the media at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from Uganda, where he attended the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), PM Dahal expressed that despite continuous efforts, Nepal is confronted with a formidable challenge in repatriating its citizens.
Bank loss impact on stock market: NEPSE drops by 25 points
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has witnessed a decline on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. The overall index has decreased by 25.63 points today. Compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE has dropped by 1.18 percent, closing at 2,130 points. The majority of banks reporting losses in their financial statements, along with a decline in profit, have affected the stock market.
PM Dahal directs acting VC of BPKIHS to convene executive council meeting in Dharan
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the acting Vice-Chancellor of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dr. Prahald Karki, to immediately convene the executive council meeting in Dharan. On Sunday, Prime Minister Dahal called Dr. Karki to Singha Durbar and directed him to schedule the executive council meeting.
One nabbed with half kg gold at TIA
The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office has apprehended an individual with half a kilogram of gold on Sunday. The team from the office detained Khagendra Darjee, who arrived in Nepal from Doha, Qatar, with 499 grams of gold today. According to Customs Office Chief, Dr. Tokraj Pandey, 499 grams of gold, smuggled as a liquid substance from Doha, Qatar, has been recovered. Darjee arrived in Kathmandu on Himalaya Airlines flight H9 564.
Janamat Party cadres padlock Agriculture University in protest as Janata Samajbadi Chair scheduled to inaugurate
Ruling Janamat Party cadres have padlocked the Province Agriculture University, protesting against issues such as political interference, allegations of corruption, and other irregularities within the university. “We are demanding an end to the political interference that the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has been engaging in. Our demand is for the university to operate independently,” stated Janamat’s Central Secretary, BP Sah. JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav is scheduled to inaugurate the university building on Monday. However, a disagreement has arisen between Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav and Education and Culture Minister Mahesh Prasad Yadav regarding the construction of the building. The Chief Minister wants JSP Chair Upendra to inaugurate the building, while Education Minister Yadav prefers Janamat Party Chair Dr. CK Raut to preside over the ceremony.
Remaining works of peace process to be completed soon: PM Dahal
Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed the belief that the remaining works of the peace process would be completed on the basis of consensus. He reiterated that the bill on Truth and Reconciliation Commission would be taken to its logical conclusion. The PM stated that discussions are on with all sides and the remaining works of the peace process would be concluded through consensus immediately after the commencement of the upcoming session of the Federal Parliament.
PM Dahal plans cabinet reshuffle; Deuba says ‘wait’
Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, is gearing up for a cabinet reshuffle, seeking to bring about changes in key ministerial positions. Following the announcement of his intent on December 26, PM Dahal is now poised to execute these changes later this week, with a specific focus on the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Sources close to the Prime Minister reveal that PM Dahal perceives challenges in effective governance without control over the Finance Ministry. Consequently, he has approached Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, a coalition partner, with a proposal to transfer the Finance Ministry from Nepali Congress to the Maoists.

Renowned Hollywood actor, Jet Li, has come to Nepal to attend classes on Buddhism. He has come to Kathmandu with the purpose of taking classes in Buddhist philosophy. The actor is attending classes in Buddhist philosophy with Boudhha Guru Chhoki Nima Rimpoche.
