Indian Army Chief Dwivedi arrives in Nepal



KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief of Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

He is in Nepal to receive the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army (NA).

On Thursday, President Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to confer the honorary rank on General Dwivedi.

During his five-day visit, General Dwivedi is scheduled to meet with President Ram Chandra Poudel, Prime Minister KP Oli, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, and Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel, according to the Nepali Army.

It is a longstanding tradition for the Chiefs of the Nepali and Indian Armies to be awarded the honorary rank of General of the Army in each other’s countries.

General Dwivedi assumed the position of Indian Army Chief on November 1.
