Kaski DAO issues prohibitory order in Pokhara

POKHARA: The District Administration Office (DAO) of Kaski has declared the area around Shahid Chowk in Pokhara a prohibited zone.

Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey issued the prohibitory order under sub-section 3(a) of Section 6 of the Local Administration Act, 2028 (with amendments) applicable to the area in Pokhara Metropolitan City.

The order forbids gatherings of more than five people and prohibits protest activities such as sit-ins, sieges, processions, demonstrations, and meetings.

The injunction comes as Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is being produced in District Court Kaski today.

Lamichhane was arrested for cooperative fraud and organized crime, and the prohibitory measures were implemented to prevent potential crowding during his court appearance.

Lamichhane was taken into custody by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police from Kathmandu on Friday evening and transported to Pokhara by road.
