HoR meeting adjourned after Nepali Congress obstruction

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting was adjourned for 15 minutes today due to obstruction by the main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC).

The NC members began protesting by shouting slogans, demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in cooperative fraudulence.

Earlier, Speaker Devraj Ghimire had urged opposition parties to refrain from obstructing Parliament.

In a Business Advisory Committee meeting held on Monday morning, Speaker Ghimire had specifically appealed to Nepali Congress not to disrupt proceedings, especially as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was scheduled to take a vote of confidence.

Despite these requests, the Nepali Congress persisted in their obstruction, resulting in the adjournment of the House session.
