National Assembly meeting taking place today

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the National Assembly (NA) is taking place today.

Federal Parliament Secretariat’s Assistant Spokesperson Dashrath Dhamala said the meeting is taking place at 11 am today.

The meeting could not take place on Sunday owing to differences among the political parties, mainly after the Nepali Congress demanded the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the cooperatives issue.

The main opposition party in the parliament, the Nepali Congress, has been calling for forming a parliamentary investigation committee to probe the misappropriation of funds from various cooperatives.

In today’s meeting, NA Chair Narayana Prasad Dahal is scheduled to inform the meeting about the letter received from the Office of the President on the appointment of ministers and ministers of state, and the allocation of portfolios to them.

Likewise, the NA Chair is also scheduled to name the members to the thematic committees in the upper house.
