Instances of disorderly or illegal behavior during Holi will face legal action: DAO



KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office Kathmandu has issued a plea for the observance of Fagu Purnima (Holi) festival with dignity, discipline, and orderliness.

In a notification, the administration underscored the importance of celebrating Holi in a respectful and disciplined manner.

The administration cautioned that any instances of excessive, disorderly, unwarranted, or illegal behavior would be met with appropriate legal action.

Assistant Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Sharma, in the notification, emphasized, “Rioting and conflicts in public spaces during festive occasions not only disrupt peace and security but also tarnish the fabric of family and social life.”

He said, “Indulging in activities such as consuming alcohol excessively or forcefully applying colors against someone’s will are strongly discouraged.”

Sharma also urged the public to refrain from engaging in reckless behaviors such as throwing water bottles, creating water fountains, coercing others to participate, or engaging in overly exuberant activities, which could lead to accidents and harm.
