NPL second qualifier: Janakpur and Karnali to clash today

KATHMANDU: The second qualifier of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) is taking place today (Thursday).

In this match, the winner of the eliminator, Karnali Yaks, will face the loser of the first qualifier, Janakpur Bolts, in an exciting encounter.

This second qualifier represents the final opportunity for both teams—the winner of the eliminator, Karnali Yaks, and the loser of the first qualifier, Janakpur—to stay in the title race and secure a spot in the final.

Sudurpaschim Royals, the winner of the first qualifier, is already waiting to meet their opponent in the final.

Sudurpaschim will compete with the winner of today’s second qualifier for the title.

The match will be held at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur at 12:30 pm on Thursday.

The second qualifier presents an important chance for Janakpur. After losing to Sudurpaschim in the first qualifier, Janakpur still has a shot at the title if they can defeat Karnali Yaks in this match.

However, Janakpur has had an uphill battle against Sudurpaschim. In the first qualifier, Sudurpaschim Royals defeated Janakpur by 8 wickets.

Janakpur, who won the toss and elected to bat first, set a target of 140 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

In response, Sudurpaschim chased down the target in just 18.3 overs, losing only 2 wickets.

Earlier, in their league-stage match, Sudurpaschim had won by a comfortable margin of 72 runs.
