Constitution Day marked with grandeur at Tundikhel
A spectacular ceremony unfolded at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, on Thursday on the occasion of Constitution Day.
The event was graced by President Ram Chandra Poudel as the esteemed chief guest.
Distinguished leaders including Vice President, Speaker of the National Assembly, Prime Minister KP Oli, among others were present on the occasion.
PHC approves new ambassadors for 16 countries
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has approved the names of proposed ambassadors for 16 countries.
Chairperson Ishwari Neupane informed that the committee approved 16 out of the 17 ambassadors recommended by the government.in a meeting held at Singh Durbar on Thursday.
However, the nomination of Ram Krishna Bhattarai as the ambassador to Sri Lanka was not approved due to questions regarding his educational qualifications.
Kathmandu Mayor supporters assaulted in National Day Concert in Durbar Marg
Supporters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah were assaulted in Durbar Marg. A group of youths chanting slogans in support of Balen were attacked by another group.
The incident occurred when a small group at the ‘National Day Concert’ began chanting “Balen! Balen!” The identities of those involved in the assault, both the attackers and the victims, have not yet been revealed.
The National Day Concert organized to mark Constitution Day, saw a large number of youths gathering with national flags.

Following the government’s decision of allowing the general public to visit Dharahara free of cost from today, a huge number of people gathered at the federal capital’s landmark.
The government has made arrangement to the general public to climb Dharahara free of charge from today, on the occasion of the Constitution Day, until the entry fee is fixed.
A huge number of people gathered at Dharahara in the first day after it is opened after nine years after its reconstruction, according to the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction.
PM Oli leaving for New York tomorrow
Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli is leaving for New York tomorrow, leading a Nepali delegation to the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) being held at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The Prime Minister will address the UNGA on September 26.
The theme for the 79th UNGA General Debates is “Leaving No One Behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations.”
Talks held on Bir Hospital construction in Bhaktapur
enior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health held discussions to advance the construction process of the state-of-the-art Bir Hospital in Duwakot of Bhaktapur.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Finance, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, along with Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel, agreed to prepare a detailed project proposal for the construction of a modern, well-equipped Bir Hospital. They also decided to issue an international call for consultant proposals to advance the project.
Rajendra Mahato protests on the streets against the Constitution
As the nation celebrates Constitution Day, Madhesh leader Rajendra Mahato staged a protest by sleeping on the streets.
On Thursday, Mahato, who chairs the newly formed National Liberation Party, and other leaders and activists gathered at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu to express their dissent.
During the protest, they burned a copy of the Constitution, voicing their concerns that it is incomplete and discriminatory.
CIAA initiates probe into alleged procurement irregularities of MRP and e-Passport
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has launched an investigation into alleged irregularities in the procurement of 2.8 million E-Passports, which may represent one of the largest graft cases uncovered by Nepal’s anti-corruption body.
The CIAA has requested the Department of Passport to provide details regarding the procurement process conducted through a variation order last year.
The Office of the Auditor General’s annual report highlighted discrepancies in the procurement, indicating that the Department of Passport paid the French company IDEMIA for the entire system, including booklets and personalization systems, despite the variation order only necessitating payment for the booklets.
