Talks held on Bir Hospital construction in Bhaktapur



KATHMANDU: Senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health held discussions to advance the construction process of the state-of-the-art Bir Hospital in Duwakot of Bhaktapur.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Finance, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, along with Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel, agreed to prepare a detailed project proposal for the construction of a modern, well-equipped Bir Hospital. They also decided to issue an international call for consultant proposals to advance the project.

Finance Minister Paudel said that Bir Hospital is going to be further expanded as it is necessary to build an international level hospital with all kinds of facilities so that Nepalis do not have to go abroad for treatment. Health Minister Paudel said that after the consultant is selected and a detailed project proposal is prepared, the construction process of the hospital will proceed.

The meeting discussed issues such as the operation of primary hospitals that are yet to be completed, and health insurance, among others. In 2073 B.S., the government decided to allocate around 700 ropanis of land in Duwakot, Bhaktapur, for the construction of an expanded Bir Hospital.
