KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has expressed hope that all citizens will be inspired to uphold the Constitution of Nepal, which embodies the core values of democracy and the aspirations of the Nepalese people.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, Speaker Ghimire extended his best wishes to all Nepalis, both at home and abroad, on this historic day marking the promulgation of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly.
He noted that while many responsibilities outlined in the Constitution have been fulfilled, several laws are still being drafted.
The federal parliament has already enacted various laws to implement over one-third of the constitutional articles.
In his message, he emphasized the importance of state and local laws for effective constitutional implementation and urged all political forces to unite and reach consensus on the remaining laws.
He stated, “As we mark a decade since the Constitution’s adoption, significant strides have been made in its implementation. All three levels of elections have been successfully conducted, and we have navigated the challenges of establishing a governance system based on democratic values and federalism.”
