Tharu Commission’s report submitted to NA

KATHMANDU: The Tharu Commission’s ‘Fifth Annual Report, 2079-80’ has been submitted to the National Assembly.

In today’s meeting of the NA, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Debendra Dahal submitted the report on behalf of Prime Minister KP Oli.

NA Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal informed the meeting about the letter received from the Office of the President regarding the certification of the bill.

Earlier, Chair Dahal directed to remove the expression made by CPN-UML  lawmaker Sharada Devi Bhatta on from the parliamentary ‘record’.

Chair Dahal said lawmaker Bhatta’s expression on July 4 was found contrary to the provisions of Section D (1) of Rule 21 of the National Assembly Regulations, 2075 BS.

A study by the parliamentary secretariat drew a conclusion that the expression was contrary to the existing regulatory provisions.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Padma Bahadur Pariyar had demanded the removal of the phrases from the record arguing it to be derogatory to the people with disability.

The next meeting of the NA will be held at 1:15 pm Monday (July 22).
