KATHMANDU: In the inaugural match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup cricket tournament, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) set a target of 116 runs for Nepal to win.
Winning the toss, Nepal elected to bowl first and managed to restrict the UAE to 115 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Nepal, Captain Indu Barma took three wickets, while Sabnam Rai, Kritika Marasini and Kabita Joshi took one wicket each.
On the UAE side, Khushi Sharma contributed the highest score of 36 runs, while Kavisha Egodage scored 22 runs, and Samaira Dharnidharka added 13 runs to the team’s total.
The tournament, running from July 18 to 28, features eight teams divided into two groups.
In Group ‘A,’ Nepal competes with UAE, India, and Pakistan, while Group ‘B’ comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the final set for July 28.
